Restaurant guide

 

There are many restaurants, pizzerias and bars to try out in Sarnano and the surrounding area. In our experience, all serve wonderful food at amazingly low prices. Below are brief details on some we have visited ourselves.  Note that pizza is generally only available in the evenings except where pizza al taglio (by the slice) is advertised.

           

La Marchigiana

Restaurant. No menu. Very popular with locals. Serves excellent food. Antipasti especially recommended. Closed Friday.

Directions – from centre of Sarnano, head north on SP78. La Marchigiana is on your right after Mobilcasa Rossi (where there is a date/time/temperature electronic sign).

Il Pincio

Pizzeria. Serves pizza and pasta. Informal. Closed Monday.

Directions – from centre of Sarnano, head north on SP78. Il Pincio is on your left after the fountain and just before you leave the town.

Da Marino

Via della Rimembranza

Pizzeria/bar. Very informal. Good for pizza and also does good antipasto. Side room with video games. Fun for the kids. Closed Wednesday.

Directions – a few metres from centre of Sarnano. From short stay car park, take minor road between Hotel Terme and chemist and Da Marino is a short way up on your left.

Il Vicolo

Restaurant. No menu. Main restaurant very atmospheric. Sheltered garden generally open in summer. Good alternative to pizza. Closed Tuesday.

Directions – in old town, through Porta di Brunforte, on left just past Chiesa di San Francesco.

Ai Pini

Restaurant.  This albergo ristorante in the centre of town serves excellent pastas and meat dishes and offers good value for money. Closed Monday.

Directions – head south from short stay car park and turn next right. Ai Pini is a few metres down the hill on your right.

La Belle Epoque

Pizzeria. Gluten free and uses buffalo mozzarella. Also serves pasta and full restaurant menu. Closed Monday.

Directions – from short stay car park, head towards Sassotetto. Past Coal and Di Per Di supermarkets on right at junction with Via De Gasperi.

La Castellana

Restaurant. Used to be in Piani di Tenna but has made a welcome return in its new location. Great selection of enormous red and white pizzas. Home-made pasta and excellent mountain dishes using local ingredients. Closed Monday.

Directions – as for La Belle Epoque, then turn right up Via De Gasperi and look out for Hotel Ai Cerchi on your left.

Il Colle

Gabella Nuova

Restaurant. Also serves pizza in the evening. Popular with locals, especially in summer when you can eat in the covered area outside. Closed Wednesday.

Directions – head north on SP78, then left at Gabella Nuova and follow the signs.

Trattoria da Zio Emilio

Restaurant. No menu. Emilio is from Napoli and the dishes have a distinctly southern Italian flavour. Closed Tuesday.

Directions – where La Castellana used to be! Head south on the SP78. Look out for the signposts to Da Zio Emilio and turn right just past the bridge. The restaurant is a short distance on your right.

La Quercia della Memoria

Restaurant. No menu. This ‘agriturismo bioecologico’ serves authentic local dishes of exceptional quality using fresh ingredients which vary with the seasons. One sitting from about 8pm, with five or six courses lasting around four hours.

Directions – Turn left in Gabella Nuova and keep going past turning to Il Colle. At the T-junction, turn left and La Quercia della Memoria is a couple of kilometres further on your right.
